Saffron Instagrams

@manlikedicksonvangogh No- nonsense winter road bike. Bikes with mudguards can look clean and slick!Richard’s is a part of the family with his second Saffron. To be asked to make a rider a second bike is always humbling. We used @columbus_official mix of Zona and Life tubes. The chain stays are @reynoldstechnology 853 for maximum tyre clearance. We kept the handling as close to his summer bike as possibly. We increased the rear end slightly to accommodate mudguards and 28mm tyres. The colour was laid down by @jackkkingston. We used @houseofkolor_ Apple Candy Red it literally pops in the sun. Richard was ace to work with on this project. . . . . . . . . . . #columbustubing #framebuilding #custombicycle #steelisreal #reynoldstubing #filletbrazed #winterbike #shimano #discbrakes #di2 #bespokebicycle #anotherfuckinghashtag @martbaischful Top tube. We used a @columbus_official Gilco tubes for the main triangle. And a Bi-laminated headtube. The lug is silver soldered onto the top tube then fillet brazed to the head tube. This is a sick build Final chance to see us at @bespokeduk 2018 Come down for a closer look at Danny’s classic stainless bi-laminate Saffron
Bi-laminate head tube for Noresh’s classic looking stainless @reynoldstechnology 953 build. The exterior sleeve was turned in house from 303 stainless to fit perfectly over the Reynolds 921 head tube (all other tubes and fork blades are 953) which has been brought to a mirror polish before brazing the two parts together. More photos to follow... @martbaischful fork detail. @reynoldstechnology 953 fork blades ended with @paragonmachine dropouts with the lawyer lips filed away for easy access of getting the wheel out. The fork blade is covered with a tinted lacquer. We won an award from @cyclist_mag for this mixed material frame. It’s a combination of ash designed and shaped by @sebastiancoxltd, steel by @reynoldstechnology and @columbus_official , carbon by @envecomposites and some stainless steel machined in house. We are stoked by the way this turned out. It’s set up as a single speed with disc, but can be run as a 1x11.
It’s always great to get pics of Saffron’s in the wild and feedback from riders. @ian.mog whip which he took deliver of over 2 years ago, which still going strong. Ian’s words: I’m out in Mallorca for a week of riding. The bike continues to be an outstanding ride, and by far the best looking bike on the island. I’ve hit a couple of PBs on climbs, but it is still the way it descends that I think is remarkable. . . . . . . . #stainlesssteel #custombike #bespokebicycle #steelisreal #campagnolo #zipp #bicycle #framebuilding #columbustubing #xcr We’e at the @barbicancentre tonight talking about bike building, we look forward to meeting you if you’re one of the lucky ones with a ticket. Julian’s wood/steel/carbon build will be on display out front Wow another amazing show @bespokeduk this year for us. The reception is humbling. And we picked up a couple of awards. We won “Best In Show” and “Best Finish”. it’s a wonderful pat on the back for all the hard work we put into our bikes.
@martbaischful riding “Gilberto” on the Paris-Roubaix route this weekend. Martin’s words: “Matthew, just a short note to let you know that the bike you made me rode fantastically well over the cobbles. Felt in control and the least beaten up compared to my previous 4 excursions in Roubaix. In general the ride is supreme.... even during normal riding back in the UK. Doesn’t feel soft, weak or out of control ever.... but always comfy even with 25s.... so no spaghetti handling even with that skinny tubing, which I guess comes down to having a steel steerer tube and stem..... potentially the bi lam adds a bit of lateral stiffness up front too. Thanks again I’m a happy camper!” Back from a great weekend at @bespokeduk with some new decorations for the workshop wall. Straight into our next build and the chips are flying, turning down some stainless for a @reynoldstechnology 953 bi-lam build @danfromnam next to his @columbus_official XCR commonwealth games bike at our @bespokeduk stand. Come down for a closer look at this and four other exciting Saffrons
