Jamie is a film-maker friend of ours and has been working on various projects for us for a year or so. A keen cyclist he decided it was time to get himself a Saffron. Jamie’s riding is mainly longer solo rides on the weekend and longer tours in the summer. The bike is designed to take mudguards and a rack, but these won’t be fitted until they’re needed, leaving the bike in it’s current “stripped-down” state for training rides through the spring. The tubing is Columbus throughout and was chosen for toughness along with ride quality and weight.
A Sram Force 22 group set with Hydraulic flat mount disc brakes give the bike an excellent gear range for faster rides and loaded touring. 140mm discs are more than powerful enough to slow this bike with excellent modulation even with a pannier full of kit. Chris King parts may be expensive but their longevity means that it’s an easy price to justify – and the looks are just a bonus!
All in all a great bike that should see Jamie through a lot of miles in various guises!
