Julian

Julian has been in touch with us here in the workshop for a couple of years talking about the specifics of his next custom bike. After a successful season racing cyclocross in the London League in 2015 he settled on a true race bike for his Saffron build, which was to be completed for the start of the 2016 season. Knowing we were making a race bike for UK conditions, we kept the mud clearance as large as possible and specified a high quality yet simple Sram CX 1 groupset.

The 44mm head tube supports an ENVE thru axle disc fork keeping the front end stiff and steering precise. Julian wanted the option to run the bike single speed, so we used Paragon rocker dropouts and fully external clipped cable routing to keep it as versatile as utilitarian possible. Tubular carbon rims with glued FMB tyres give an insanely light wheelset which will stick like glue in the UK’s generally muddy race conditions.

The paint was inspired by autumnal colours and we feel it fits in with this bike perfectly. Applied by Cole Coatings here in London it really is a great finishing touch to this true race machine.
