Stuart wanted a bike that would “last for ages and stand out from the crowd”, a perfect brief for custom steel. The material has moved on since the days of 531 and SL and this means we can now build bikes that are modern in both looks and performance.
An oversized Columbus Spirit tube set was used to create a stiff responsive frame, with a 44mm head tube and a tapered steerer. The stainless dropouts from Paragon Machine Works are clean, simple and functional. We took Stu’s brief further by using a specification that is future-proofed. Disc brakes and Di2 group set will stop and go perfectly for years to come with minimal maintenance and we all know this is the way development in road bikes is going. ENVE provide the finishing kit and the NOX carbon rims are right up to date. Wide, tubeless compatible and super light. Chris King bring a splash of colour to the final build.
The paint was designed in house using colours from Stuarts newly redecorated front room! A beautiful combination.
Stuarts comments: ” I have been on the bike about 6 times and even cannot believe how well it rides .. .It corners likes it’s on rails and currently stored in my sons bedroom. It is super comfortable and i have not had any twinges in my back , like from my previous bike . It really is special and I cannot thank you enough. “
