Christian’s bike was designed to have a clean and classic aesthetic with modern functionality. We decided to use Columbus XCR stainless steel tubing with exposed chainstays. The geometry will give this frame a very responsive but stable ride. We guided the brake cable housing internally through the frame to maintain the clean aesthetic. Christian opted for a 12spd Shimano Ultegra Di2 group set and 45mm Ven carbon rims. We loved having Christian in the workshop for the week whilst helping him create his dream build!

Christian was part of the first Saffron Frame Building Experience in 2023, he was hoping to gain a deeper understanding of the frame building process during his time with us. Having the opportunity to increase the personal significance of having a custom built frame, by physically helping craft his own during Saffron Experience. The design of his frame resulted in stable handling with responsive steering meaning it will be perfect for the rougher roads of Oxford and on the occasional towpath. Below are a few words from Christian about his time with us:

“I was very pleased with my experience at Saffron – it was just amazing and I loved everything about it. I found being part of the process super interesting and was surprised at how hands-on the experience was. I really appreciated being part of the design and manufacturing process and found that it gave me confidence in the strength and longevity of the frame. I’m really looking forward to riding my Saffron in the Chilterns in the new year when I finally get some time and plan on taking the long way home from work in the summer. I can’t speak highly enough of my time at Saffron”.
