Jon wanted to treat himself for a milestone birthday and came to us to help him create his dream bike. He has been riding most of his life Jon’s first proper bike was a steel Raleigh – something which started a love affair with the material. The brief was clear; make a bike for club runs and “continental” riding which was comfortable for long days in the saddle using modern components and a clean classic aesthetic. The frame is constructed from Columbus Spirit and uses a 44mm headtube and Chris King Inset headset supporting a Whiskey fork. A little nod to the classic is added with hand carved flames in the dropouts. Using Pinch bolt integrated into the stays and internal cable routing keeps the silhouette clean and un-fussed. The paint colour was matched to Jon’s wedding invitations and the gold of the components mirrored in the details on the frame.
Jon was a pleasure to work with, providing a clear brief but allowing us creative input on the bike.
