Orlando has been riding for many years, and favours long days in the saddle. A member of Audax UK he regularly rides their events in the Southern UK. This year sees him step up to the “big leagues” having signed up for one of the longest organised rides they offer, London>Edinburgh>London a 1400km Audax over five days. For this new challenge we were tasked to build him a new bike!
Orlando was keen to have a British made bike, made from British materials – so we chose a 853 tube set from Reynolds to offer the lightness and robustness we need for a use such as this. The bike has been designed to function and fit both with and without a set of tri extensions to offer an aero advantage on long days. A Shimano Di2 groupset will offer faultless shifting in all conditions which will be a real bonus when you’re tired with over 1000km in the legs. The Son Schmidt Dynamo powers both front and rear Supernova lights with the majority of the cabling ran through the frame. Simple, matt black mudguards finish the bike off practically and with a suitable simple aesthetic.
Orlando had this to say after a couple of shake down rides: “I just wanted to write and say how totally thrilled I am with my Saffron. I’ve done around 1000km on it now and it’s a total dream. Handles like a racer but keeps me comfy and happy for mile after mile. Thanks to both of you for all the great work!”
