Rahil

Rahil came to us having bought other custom bikes through his life, and so could tell us what he wanted. And what he didn’t want. “Light and Fast” were the first specifications we were given, leading us towards one of Columbus‘ top end tube sets. He plans on using the bike on his daily commute so longevity was also a consideration for us, so XCR stainless steel was the obvious choice. The geometry of the bike will offer confident handling with only minimal toe overlap and should keep Rahil comfortable on his longer all-day rides of 100+ miles when on holiday.

The specification of this bike is well considered, with a high quality yet tough groupset from Campagnolo. Chris King hubs hand laced to Pacenti rims will keep Rahil rolling with minimal fuss and the finishing kit from Fizik looks just right.

It’s often temping to polish stainless steel and leave as much as possible free from paint, but we wanted it to keep the bike understated so limited the exposed metal to the inside of the stays where it’s needed. To add a little flare our graphic designer made a paint mask inspired by Rahil’s favourite Japanese Artwork, “Tako To Ama” which was added to the fork.

A joy to build, and a beautiful bike, we couldn’t ask for more.

Rahil’s Comments: “I hoped I’d enjoy it but the more I’ve used it the more I’ve absolutely loved it. Listening to the bearings when freewheeling, the pick up, the quality of the paint, the build – everything is great. It is enormous fun to ride!”
